obsessions

I was reading an article today titled: Shoot the Messenger: Excessive use of mobile phones for texting can hurt more that the hip pocket.
Ahhh...a topic close to my heart!! Many of you will know that I have a case of excessive moblie texting. Well...to be honest, it isn't really that bad, and I have coem to realise this after reading the before mentioned article :) (hang on, am i just in denial?!)
Case studies included this girl who had sent...wait for it.... 14, 827 messages in the past 6 months. CRAZY!!! that works out (according to my super smart mathematical brain) to be approx 88 messages a day!!! What the hell does this girl do, literally sit on her phone and text all day? No wonder she went over her $69 cap last month by $2000 as the article goes on to mention...
Further on, the girl gives her reasoning behind her excessive text use... it means she is lvoed when she receives a message, and it is a good way to avoid dealing with people. To a point, I agree with her. Who doesnt enjoy receiving a message of love? Again, who doesnt prefer sending a text when they know they really should pick up the phone and call but they cant be bothered?
However. To a point. This girl has obviously got serious issues, if she needs to be reminded she is lvoed 88 times a day, or needs to send 88 messages of avoidance a day.
Therefore i now feel a lot better about myself and my texting patterns! Clearly I am not as bad as i (and others) once feared I was!
So tell me...what are other peoples obsessions?! And/or what do you think of my justification that I am not a text addict?! xx

Blog time. Something to write about... unfortunately I never feel inspired when I am forced to write something, SO this is just to let you know that once my creativity starts to flow a bit more I will be back with some interesting thoughts....

beginning a blog...

Beginning a blog.. Seems a little bit daunting to be honest!
Considering that I am not usually at a loss for words, undertaking this is quite confronting. Where to begin, and what to focus on?
I guess that the concept of blogging is something that is defiantely facilited only through the advent of Web 2.0 and the interactivity that this encourages. Being able to essentially publish your diary for all the world (well...the web savvy world) to see is something I find amusing. Never one who likes people reading my inner most thoughts it seems slightly contradictory that I am now going to put it all out there! Maybe the idea that a stranger will read and relate is what entices people to do this. Maybe it provides a voice to people who otherwise feel unheard. Or maybe a blog is merely the perfect tool for narcissists!
Whatever the purpose, intention or reasoning behind my blogging, a sense of catharsis is the ultimate goal. Who better to listen to me (when others don't or won't) than the realms of cyber space?!
